Christmas Poem, by Des Dillon

I am not a silent poet

Walking frosted fields,
each crunching footfall sounds
like horses galloping
the bounds of knowledge.

And if Kant and Schopenhauer
are right, I move in a world
I know nothing about.
And beneath my feet
Christmas horses
thunder into Bethlehem
and Yemen…
and Iraq..
